Role description

This is a rare opportunity to lead one of the most significant energy infrastructure programmes currently in development in the sector. We are looking for an exceptional individual - someone with 15 to 20 or more years of hands-on energy industry experience and a track record of delivering complex, large-scale capital programmes from conception through to commissioning. The programme in question is transformational in scope - involving the redevelopment of existing infrastructure to incorporate large-scale storage, marine import capability and associated distribution assets. It will create a strategically vital energy node that underpins supply security, enables operational flexibility and positions the organisation for future growth in renewable and low-carbon energy. The Organisation A well-established, market-leading provider of off-grid and alternative energy solutions, with a long track record of delivering energy products and services to commercial and residential customers across the island of Ireland. The business has grown significantly through sustained investment, operational excellence and technical expertise, and is now entering a new phase of strategic infrastructure development. The Programme This infrastructure development will be central to the organisation’s long-term strategic ambitions - opening access to new markets, enhancing supply resilience and creating the foundations for a broader renewable and low-carbon energy offering. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape, lead and ultimately deliver an asset that will define the organisation’s capability for decades to come. What the Role Requires You will bring deep technical expertise in energy infrastructure - spanning asset development, emerging energy technologies and the delivery of large capital investment projects. You will have led multidisciplinary teams through complex delivery environments, managed competing stakeholder priorities with credibility and translated high-level strategic intent into practical, executable programmes. Equally important is the human side of this role. You will need strong emotional intelligence, the ability to build trust quickly at senior levels and a leadership style that brings out the best in the people around you. The ability to navigate ambiguity, make sound judgements under pressure and maintain programme momentum through complexity is essential. Credentials An advanced technical qualification is required. Chartered Engineer status, PMP certification or equivalent programme management accreditation would be highly advantageous. Most importantly, you will have done this before - at scale, in the energy sector, and with results to show for it.
